Dozens of Italian artists and intellectuals participated in a march in Milan to denounce discrimination against Russian culture or attempts to abolish it.

The RIA Novosti news agency reported that the march started from the Peace Arch in the city, a month after a similar march organized in central Rome.

The Secretary-General of the "Friends of the Great Russia" association, Yulia Bazarova, said that the Albano singer and actor Pepo Franco and other Italian cultural figures, including sociologists, art critics and poets, have expressed their solidarity with Russia.

She pointed out that the gathering was held under the slogans "Culture is a dialogue between peoples" and "No to Russia's terrorism," noting that in addition to representatives of the Russian- and Italian-speaking cultural circles, dancers from the traditional dance troupe "Rosiana" participated in the march.

"The Milan La Scala Theater opened the new season at the Mussorgowski Opera in Rome with a classical concert with works by Russian composers, and these are positive signs," Bazarova added.
