On the sidelines of the fourth joint Syrian-Russian meeting to follow up on the international conference on the return of refugees and displaced Syrians, a Russian delegation visited the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East, the Mary Cathedral in Damascus, and presented office equipment and school supplies to educational institutions sponsored by the Patriarchate, in addition to an icon of St. Sergius, who is from Radonezh, the Wonderworker.
The Patriarchal Vicar of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East, Archbishop Gregory Khoury, stressed the importance of strengthening and developing cooperation relations between churches in the two friendly countries, Syria and the Russian Federation, praising the educational and cultural cooperation between the two churches.
In turn, the official in charge of foreign relations in the Moscow government, Iger Gchak, stressed the Moscow government's endeavor to raise the level of relations to broader horizons at all levels.
The Russian delegation also visited the Greek Orthodox Patriarchal Monastery of St. Thecla in Maaloula in Damascus countryside, and handed over office equipment provided by the All-Russian Social Organization for Combative Brothers and the Moscow Government to the monastery's museum, as well as school supplies and supplies for its students and monks.
