A8: Drunk driver causes accident with one injured

A drunk professional driver caused an accident on the A8 near Weyarn with one person injured and major damage to property.

With his driver's license, the man is now probably his job.

Weyarn – As the police announced, the accident happened on the eve of Corpus Christi at 10:10 p.m.

The 45-year-old from the Stuttgart area drove his VW in the left lane towards Salzburg.

Shortly after the Weyarn junction, he left the roadway, steered hard and braked.

As a result, his car spun against the right-hand guardrail and back onto the road.

There he collided with the car of a 58-year-old from the Lauf ad Pegnitz region, who had a 56-year-old passenger on board.

She was injured in the accident and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance.

The person who caused the accident and the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident were miraculously uninjured.

Both vehicles had to be towed away, the total damage to property is around 12,000 euros.

During the accident investigation, the police noticed that the person who caused the accident smelled of alcohol.

An on-site test confirmed the suspicion, which is why blood was drawn from the man.

The police did not say how much alcohol the man had.

She secured his driver's license, which in this case has far-reaching consequences: the man is a professional driver.

As a result of the accident, the middle and right lanes were closed for about an hour, causing traffic problems.

In addition to the police and the rescue service, the Holzkirchen motorway maintenance department and the Weyarn fire brigade were on site, who secured traffic and ensured fire protection.
