After the train crash near Garmisch-Partenkirchen on June 3, the number of people injured rose to 68. The police are still looking for fellow travelers and witnesses.
The railway line will remain closed for a long time.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen
– Even ten days after the train accident near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, it remains unclear why the regional train derailed in the Loisachauen.
Five people lost their lives in the tragedy on June 3. The press office of the Oberbayern Süd police headquarters in Rosenheim has now named 68 injured, including 16 seriously injured.
"There are always reports of people who left the scene of the accident immediately after the accident and only went to the doctor later," emphasizes police spokesman Stefan Sonntag.
Accident near Garmisch-Partenkirchen: Soko Zug hotline switched – for witnesses and fellow travelers
The cooperation of train passengers is very important for the investigators of the "Soko Zug" of the criminal police in Weilheim.
Because they have a clear goal when it comes to processing: “Every inmate should be spoken to.
Anyone could be an important witness,” Sunday assures.
This is one of the reasons why the police once again refer to the hotline 0800/55 65 101, which witnesses and travelers can use to contact the special commission, ideally by tomorrow (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.).
The Soko experts also set up this contact because numerous personal items and documents were found during the clean-up work at the accident site on the Loisachauen industrial park in Partenkirch.
"Of course, the train passengers get them back," says Sunday.
By the way: everything from the region is also available in our regular GAP newsletter.
Train accident near Garmisch-Partenkirchen: Investigations are limited to the southern section of the track
Meanwhile, the investigations of the police in the area of the accident site are limited to the section of track south of the locomotive (direction Garmisch-Partenkirchen), which drove the train on June 3 and is still there with a wagon.
"The train also derailed there," explains the spokesman.
The tracks there are dismantled and secured by Soko specialists.
“This is a crime scene,” Sunday makes clear.
North of this, the railway will begin repair work.
"Also in order to be able to transport the locomotive and wagon away." The vehicles are no longer required for the continuation of the investigations.
How long the special commission will be busy in the area of the track bed, Sunday is not able to estimate precisely.
“But that could take weeks,” he clarifies.
"In the end, until the detective says: Now we have everything!" Only then can the railways begin with the renovation of the systems.
The resumption of train traffic on the route between Oberau, Farchant and Garmisch-Partenkirchen is therefore impossible for a long time.
50 officials in the special commission in Zug - a challenge in G7 times
Dealing with the accident is "a major challenge" for the police these days. Due to the approaching G7 summit from June 26th to 28th, many emergency services are already on site, but they basically have other tasks to deal with.

The special commission of the Kripo in Weilheim now consists of 50 officers.
There are also experts from the Federal Railway Authority, among others, as well as external specialists who contribute their expertise to the investigation.
There is no information on when the first results can be expected.
"But something like this takes months, such a serious accident cannot be resolved in days or a few weeks."
At the bus stops, there is a lot of guesswork: When is the bus coming? This tour group in Oberau is also wondering.

Chaos reigns in rail traffic - Bahn AG is silent
Meanwhile, rail traffic is chaotic.
Deutsche Bahn also recently closed the sections between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Mittenwald, Murnau and Oberau and Murnau and Oberammergau – without specific information for train passengers.
There is a lack of information at the train stations and bus stops, and the irritation and anger are great.
Written inquiries from the daily newspaper remained unanswered on Monday.
Local taxi companies meanwhile drive individual train customers between Mittenwald and Murnau, and buses also operate – albeit without a current timetable.
"It is not advisable to travel in the Werdenfels area if it is not absolutely necessary," emphasized the railway in a message from the route agent information service last Saturday afternoon.
Due to “the traffic situation” there could be “increased delays”.
Passengers should switch to the RVO bus line 9606.
Repairs along the route are cited as the reason.
