The Ministry of Education and the “Alf Noun Arts and Spirituality” gallery announced the names of the winners of the “Colors and Ideas” competition in its fifth edition, entitled “Arts raise people” for the year 2022 for all governorates.
Regarding the recommendations issued by the Committee and Alf Noun Gallery, Sandra Al-Nabulsi, the first supervisor of the visual and aesthetic arts education in the Ministry of Education, said: “Through the Colors and Ideas competition, Alf Noun Gallery, represented by its director, the plastic artist Badi’ Jahjah, has been acquainted with the imaginative side of the ideas of children and students and how they deal with them.” their environment, their heritage, and their personal emotions.”
She added, "This was not found as expected in this competition, and the reason is due to the influence of the Internet on various topics for all age groups, in addition to the influence of teachers on the ideas and drawings of learners, especially the first episode, and the lack of appropriate explanation and correct transmission of the competition's axes and topics, in addition to the lack of interest from some specialized supervisors and teachers. By continuing to work on the Colors and Ideas competition, the justification was their preoccupation with the Arts Festival and that the learners did not submit works for the competition.”
Al-Nabulsi expressed her hope that in the upcoming competitions for Colors and Ideas, these observations will be taken seriously, because our ambition in the future is to show the creativity, imagination and personality of learners to build a generation that has a decision-maker with a personality and a thought for the future.
It is noteworthy that approximately 312 male and female students won the prizes of the competition, in which about 5,000 students of different grades participated. The first cycle was allocated a prize of 15,000 Syrian pounds, awarded to more than 200 male and female students, and the second cycle was awarded the value of 25 thousand pounds, and it was awarded to 50 students. As for the category of Secondary school, the value of the prize is 35,000 pounds, and it was awarded to 50 students.
The Ideas and Colors competition comes within the framework of encouraging the artistic movement for its importance and role in human life. It left the participating students the freedom to choose the appropriate technology from colors and other materials to formulate their paintings, provided that behind the participating painting, a sentence drawn from local or international literature bearing wisdom appropriate for each age stage.
The competition was divided into three age groups, the first for students of the first cycle and the subject required for drawing “my relationship with nature”, the second category for students of the second cycle of basic education, and the required subject “my relationship with heritage”. Or joy or anger in the way he sees fit, based on the style of an international art school.
It is noteworthy that the competition included a specialized jury composed of Sandra Al-Nabulsi, the first supervisor of the subject of visual and aesthetic art education in the Ministry of Education, Juma Al-Nazhan, plastic artist and teacher at the Institute of Fine and Applied Art Education, artist and art critic Ammar Hassan, and journalist Rasha Mahfoud, head of the culture department at the Syrian Arab News Agency, SANA. The committee chose the winning works according to the axes of idea, composition, technique and sentence.
