The participants in the 39th annual general conference of the Medical Syndicate discussed ways to develop the profession, amend the Syndicate’s fees, communicate with international organizations concerned with health affairs, adjust the price of prescriptions and medical reports, raise the value of the pension, end-of-service benefits and death, at Al-Sham Hotel in Damascus.
During the conference, which was held today under the slogan (With science and work, we advance our union, medical, social and political performance), the participants raised a number of issues related to strengthening the services provided to doctors by activating the union’s investment projects, including pre-marital examination clinics and laboratories.
In his speech, the Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghubash, stressed the importance of cooperation between the Ministry and the Syndicate to develop and advance the profession, pointing to the exceptional efforts made by the Ministry and its employees to continue providing basic medical services, diagnostic, therapeutic and pharmaceutical quality to citizens, as the total medical services provided in hospitals and public bodies affiliated with the Ministry reached during The first quarter of this year reached about 5 million free and semi-free services.
In her turn, a member of the central leadership of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, head of the Office of Popular Organizations and Professional Syndicates, Engineer Hoda Al-Homsi, explained the great importance of the health cadres and the efforts and sacrifices they made during the past years, noting the importance of strengthening cooperation between the ministry and the union to ensure public health in society.
The head of the Syrian Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Ghassan Fendi, explained the importance of the conference to see and evaluate the reality of union and medical work, and to develop work programs to secure an appropriate environment for developing the profession and services provided to doctors and patients, and to overcome the various difficulties imposed by the terrorist war on Syria and the Corona pandemic on the health reality.
In a statement to SANA between the head of the Damascus Physicians Syndicate, Dr. Khaled Al-Mousa, that the discussions and proposals presented, especially the amendment of the regulations governing the profession’s law, contribute to the development of work, while the treasurer of the Damascus Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Majd Al-Kayyali, stressed the need to amend the medical examination pricing in a manner that is commensurate with reality and takes into account the interests of the doctor and the patient.
The conference was attended by the Governor of Damascus, Engineer Adel Al-Olabi, the Governor of Damascus Countryside, Engineer Moataz Abu Al-Nasr Jamran, the Secretary of the Damascus Branches of the Arab Socialist Baath Party Hussam Al-Samman, the Damascus Countryside Radwan Mustafa, a number of members of the People's Assembly, heads of professional unions and hospital administrators.
