Carina weighed 156.3 kilos at 1.63 meters.

The 30-year-old from Bavaria sought help and underwent gastric bypass surgery - with success.

Forchheim – Carina has had a long odyssey, one failed attempt to lose weight followed the next.

Already when she was 18 years old, the young woman realized that she needed help from outside.

Forchheim: 30-year-old with gastric bypass surgery - "I was as tall as wide"

Her condition worsened due to the corona pandemic, and most recently she even needed help putting on her shoes.

“My maximum weight was 156.3 kg.

I am 1.63 m tall, I was as tall as I was wide.

At this point I said to myself: If you don't seek help now, you'll get into a vicious circle that you can't get out of," Forchheim Clinic quoted the 30-year-old as saying in a Facebook post.

Carina found great support from her family, who stood behind her decision from the start: gastric bypass surgery.

Woman from Bavaria undergoes stomach surgery - "I knew I could do it now!"

She can still remember her first meal after the operation: a protein shake with some applesauce.

After three or four teaspoons of the shake, a slight internal pressure built up and the young woman thought: "Ok, awesome!

This is now my new feeling of satiety.”

Six months before the operation, she started the "Multimodal Concept", a preparation program for the operation.

She only lost a little weight, but she didn't gain weight either - a first sense of achievement.

Three weeks before the operation, she then lost eight kilos: “That was the sticking point for me.

I knew I could do it now!” quotes the clinic.

At first it was irritating for her that she could only drink a little - around one liter a day.

Before that she had drunk four to five liters.

"It was incredibly exhausting because I could only drink in sips." After a while, the fluid intake normalized.

Carina's life has changed a lot since the operation: She weighs almost 65 kilograms less and enjoys the new attitude towards life: "With every kilogram that I lose, I feel freer.

She feels an energy she never dreamed of before.

The enterprising woman lives with two large dogs that always want to go outside.

She used to be totally exhausted after just two minutes of walking.

The 30-year-old now runs ten kilometers at a time through the forest without getting out of breath, reports the clinic.

But not only the physical has changed.

In her latest post - photos from one day before the operation and nine months later - she writes that her thoughts and appearance have changed.

"I've always been a positive person, but now I represent that." She no longer tries to fit in so everyone likes her.

"I know now that I'm worth being liked for myself and that it's totally ok not to be liked, because that also means being able to have your own opinion and be a self-determined person.

I would never have thought that a physical change would also do so much to the soul and mind."
