During peak hours: workers' power will shut down public transportation lines in major cities Israel today

On Monday, June 20, 2002, workers' power will shut down the Superbus and Electra Afikim Transportation 202 bus traffic. The strike will take place between 5:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., peak hours of public transportation.

Among the cities that will be affected by the strike: Haifa (Matronit), Afula, Tiberias, Beit She'an, Jerusalem and more.

The committees are protesting the state and operating companies 'refusal to commit to improving drivers' terms of employment as early as 2022.

This is the fifth time the Transport Committees have been on strike for workers and the third in a row. 

Tam Promovich, head of the Forced Transportation for Workers industry, said that "the state is disconnecting from public transportation. The shortage of drivers is costing the economy NIS 40 billion in huge traffic jams.

When there are no drivers there is no public transport and the public continues to use the private vehicle.

The solution must be a dramatic improvement in driver conditions to bring home thousands of drivers who have left the industry and need to return.

Our strikes led to better wages in 2015 and 2018 and probably so this time as well.

"As long as there is no change, we have to expand the strike activity."

Harun Shubash, chairman of the workers' committee at Superbus, said: "We are pleased that drivers from other companies are joining our strike.

The Ministry of Finance, Transportation and Companies evade responsibility and inform us that in 2022 there will be no change.

We do not care who is responsible.

We demand change, just before the industry collapses for the benefit of the entire public in Israel. "

Jerusalem - Most of the Jerusalem Envelope lines for localities: Givat Zeev, Mevaseret Zion, Gush Etzion, Kiryat Arba, Binyamin Regional Council, Ma'ale Adumim, Jerusalem-Ariel.

Local transportation in the north: Haifa (Matronit), Afula, Tiberias, Migdal Haemek, Yokneam, Beit She'an, Dalit El Carmel, Isfiya, Megiddo Regional Council.
