Flames under control in Malagrotta but it is an emergency - Lazio

The fire that in a few hours devoured part of the former mega-landfill of Malagrotta was brought under control at the first light of dawn but to finally extinguish the fire, which affected two storage and waste treatment sheds, it will take however days.

GUALTIERI: 'WASTE PLANTS READY BY JULY 


"What happened is a blow to the city and to the waste governance system because the two Tmbs dealt with a significant portion: fortunately, plant number 1, which treats about 4 thousand tons of waste a week, is unharmed and we plan to get it back fully operational as soon as the area is made safe ", explains the mayor, adding however that" unfortunately the Tmb2 which treats about 5,400 tons per week has suffered structural damage which makes it unusable at the moment ".

A first important solution has been found: "Rida di Aprilia has already given positive availability for large quantities of waste to be treated", announces Gualtieri at the end of the control room called to the prefecture.

Meanwhile, by July, according to the Capitol,

the new implant plan could be presented.

"Now Rome can and must come out of the emergency", added Gualtieri, not excluding the possibility of exercising the "extraordinary powers that the government has given me as commissioner to deal with the emergency in the most effective way possible".
