Ursula Meyndt remains chairwoman of the Transylvanian Saxons.

The Crown Festival takes place on Saturday, July 9th.

Geretsried

– May brought impetus to the association life of the Transylvanian Saxons.

After the dance groups had shown their skills at the invitation of the Egerländer Gmoi on May 1st on Karl-Lederer-Platz, the general meeting of the district group followed a few days later with new elections for the leadership in the council chambers.

The approximately 60 people present confirmed Ursula Meyndt in her office as chairwoman.

According to the press release, the head of the district group is pleased that meetings of this magnitude are possible again.

"Tradition does not mean preserving ashes, but keeping a flame burning," Meyndt is quoted as saying.

You can only create a home by working together.

With its currently 538 members, the district group is the sixth largest at state level - the newest member, by the way, is Helmut Hahn, chairman of the Egerländer Gmoi in Geretsried.

The choir had to lose its feathers.

"It has shrunk from the 40 members it used to have." Young singers are welcome.

In the board elections, which had to be postponed by two years due to the corona pandemic, Ursula Meyndt was re-elected to the office of chairwoman.

The other board members are also all women: Meyndt's deputies are Iris Maurus, Kerstin Wagner and Dietlinde Heneges.

Sieglinde Thamm is secretary.

Treasurer Edda Meyndt and her deputy Uschi Schuller are new to the board.

Rita Christel and Heike Kraus will check the cash register.

The Transylvanians are very happy that the traditional Kronenfest can take place again this year, on Saturday, July 9th, on the Böhmwiese.

According to press officer Roland Widmann, preparations are underway.

"Members are already working on the completion of the crown," he writes.

The festival takes place from 12 noon, whatever the weather.

For food and drink is well looked after.

For the sake of the environment, the organizers ask you to bring your own plates and cutlery.
