Call to save energy
: After the Russian state-owned company Gazprom cut gas supplies to Germany, Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) has now called for energy saving.
Regarding energy conservation, Habeck said in a video circulated on Twitter on Wednesday: "Now is the time to do that.
Every kilowatt hour helps in this situation.” The Green Party politician described the situation as “serious”, but said Habeck said security of supply was not at risk.
Gazprom again cut gas supplies through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline on Wednesday.
While the Russian state company justifies this with delays in repair work, the Federal Minister of Economics suspects a political move behind it.
The day before, on Tuesday, Gazprom had announced cutbacks.
