The Russian energy company Gazprom is drastically reducing its deliveries to Germany.

The Green Economics Minister encourages the Germans not to allow themselves to be divided.

Berlin - After the Russian Gazprom group cut gas supplies, Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck called again for energy saving.

In a video distributed via Twitter, the Green politician thanked the population and companies for their efforts so far.

At the same time, Habeck appealed with a view to saving energy: “Now is the time to do that.

Every kilowatt hour helps in this situation.”

The situation is serious, but it does not endanger the security of supply in Germany.

Habeck warned: “We have to be vigilant.

We have to keep working with concentration.

Above all, we must not allow ourselves to be divided.

Because that is what Putin intends to do.”

On June 15, Gazprom again reduced the gas delivery volumes through the Nord Stream 1 Baltic Sea pipeline to Germany.

The Russian state-owned company once again justified this step with delays in repair work.

Habeck, on the other hand, suspects a political decision behind it.

Gazprom had already announced a throttling the day before.

"The current reports clearly show that the justification given by the Russian side is simply pretended," explained Habeck after the renewed announcement of cuts.

"Obviously, the strategy is to create uncertainty and drive up prices." Energy prices have risen sharply as a result of the war in Ukraine, among other things.

The necessary gas quantities could currently be procured on the market, "albeit at high prices," he added.

The gas storage tanks would also continue to be filled.

“The security of supply is guaranteed.

But we are observing things very closely and are in close contact with the relevant actors about the crisis structures.”

In the political talk "Sandra Maischberger" (ARD) on June 15, the cabaret artist Mathias Richling said, with regard to Habeck's energy saving proposals, that they would come to nothing for consumers - because those affected would implement them anyway out of necessity.
