The harvesting of agricultural crops, especially wheat and barley, continues in Daraa governorate at an accelerated pace amid simplified procedures by the concerned authorities in the agricultural sector in terms of facilitating marketing, paying the incentive price, and distributing fuel at the subsidized price.
The director of Daraa Agriculture, Engineer Bassam al-Hashish, told SANA reporter that the harvested area of wheat has so far reached 36,900 hectares out of the harvestable area of 63,235 hectares, indicating that the directorate provides farmers with the necessary support to ensure marketing the entire production of the province to the marketing centers in Izraa and al-Sanamayn.
He pointed out that the barley harvest is nearing completion, as the area harvested to date has reached 5210 hectares out of the 5,400 hectares of harvestable area, indicating that most of the areas planted with barley have gone out of production due to low rainfall at the governorate level.
In turn, the head of the Department of Plant Production in the Directorate, Eng. Wael Al-Ahmad, indicated that the farmers began harvesting the chickpea crop, as the harvested area until today reached 200 hectares out of the harvestable area of 14,600 hectares. to harvest.
Al-Ahmad pointed out that the farmers of Daraa have finished harvesting the beans and peas crops, as the area harvested for beans reached 2,892 hectares and 1672 hectares of peas, stressing that the two crops are grown in several regions of Knawa, Izraa, Tafas and the Yarmouk Basin region, and they have economic feasibility and their prices are acceptable, and they are in great demand in the markets to save them as supplies.
