In the middle of the Lake Garda season: drinking water is rationed in northern Italy – “the situation is getting worse”

Because it is not raining and the weather is hot like midsummer, drinking water has to be rationed in Lombardy, Italy, and in Veneto near Lake Garda at the end of the German Whitsun holidays.
Munich/Rome/Bardolino - Lake Garda: It is the place of longing for many Germans to go on holiday with lots of Italian dolce vita.
Especially during the Pentecost holidays.
Especially for travelers from Bavaria and the Munich area.
Between Riva, Bardolino, Peschiera, Densenzano and Salo there are license plates from "M" (Munich), via "FS" (Freising), "ED" (Erding), "DAH" (Dachau) to "STA" (Starnberg) .

But now this: Due to a historic drought, northern Italy is forced to take drastic measures in the middle of the holiday season.
125 communities in the Piedmont and Lombardy regions were recently asked to stop or throttle the drinking water supply to households at night.
The association of water and energy suppliers Utilitalia sounded the alarm in view of the extreme drought, especially in the areas through which the Po, Italy's longest river, flows.

The Po River Authority reported the worst drought and lowest water level in 70 years.
In many places only a trickle remains of the normally mighty river.
"The situation is getting worse and worse," said employee Meuccio Berselli of the
Ansa
news agency .
"In some areas it hasn't rained for 110 days." Dozens of communities are already using tankers to transport water because the water reservoirs are empty.

Attilio Fontana, President of the Lombardy Region, announced this Thursday (June 16) that he would declare a state of emergency.
