Manhattan: Another lawsuit against Unilever following ice cream boycott Israel today

Class action lawsuit filed in Ben & Jerry's parent company • Key claims - The company failed when it allowed the ice cream maker to boycott Judea and Samaria and withheld information about the decision to prevent economic damage

A class action lawsuit was filed yesterday (Wednesday) in a Manhattan court against Unilever, the parent company of Ben & Jerry's, alleging that it failed to allow the ice cream maker to stop selling its products in Judea and Samaria.

According to the lawsuit, Unilever improperly hid the decision before Ben & Jerrys announced it, recognizing that the move could cause many U.S. states to stop investing in it. However, when Ben & Jerry's decision was announced, Unilever responded The company.

Ben & Jerry's announced in July about a year ago that it would stop selling its products in Judea and Samaria and East Jerusalem, and severed its 30-year contract with a local ice cream maker in Israel that held the company's franchise and refused to comply with the boycott it decided on.

Following the decision, Unilever's share price fell by approximately 8% in just six days, after Florida and Texas announced a re-examination of their relationship with the company, and several Jewish organizations accused it of anti-Semitism.

Subsequently, five other states in the US, including New York, decided to stop investing in their Unilever pension funds.

"As a result of Defendant's misconduct and omissions, and as a result of the decline in the market value of Unilever's stock, Plaintiff and others who may belong to the class action suffered significant losses and damages," the lawsuit filed by the Michigan State Police Department Fire Department firefighters said.

As you may recall, Ben & Jerry's Israeli franchisee also filed a lawsuit against Unilever in March, after the company refused to renew the agreement with him following his refusal to cooperate with the Ben & Jerrys boycott.

A judge in New Jersey, where the lawsuit was filed, suspended its handling after the parties agreed to try to reach a solution through a mediator.
