Waldram – At the political morning pint of the Greens in the beer garden of the Gasthaus zur Post, Member of the Bundestag Karl Bär campaigned for the energy transition and the ecological transformation of agriculture.

Despite posters and announcements in the press, one table was sufficient for the discussion and question and answer session.

Christine Mair, who runs an organic farm and a farm shop with her family in Münsing, was particularly interested in the implementation of ecological goals.

Karl Baer expressed confidence that the government subsidies for the conversion of barns and the use of environmentally friendly fertilizer will soon pay off.

"We start with consumer power," explained Holzkirchner.

The obligation to label eggs introduced 18 years ago has led to a drastic reduction in the number of chickens kept in cages in the EU.

Karl Bär calls for livestock farming regulations for turkeys

A livestock farming regulation for turkeys would be another important step for Bär.

In principle, however, the consumption of animal products must be generally restricted.

Visitor Lena Gneist, who left the Greens, recommended reducing food waste.

Gneist believes it makes sense to legalize the so-called containers – as the removal of food that has passed the best-before date is called.

A changeover to insect food that she called for, which should replace the consumption of pork, made tavern operator Jutta Gold smile.

"My Waldramer guests mainly eat schnitzel: I'm not trying anything new," she clarified.

Energy transition: More wind and solar energy in Germany

In another key topic, Bär explained why the "Easter package" for the energy turnaround decided by the federal government in April also promotes independence from oil, coal and gas imports from dictatorial states.

Accordingly, the reform of the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) means that the expansion volumes and remuneration for wind and solar energy in Germany will be increased.

However, Bär also admitted that the implementation would be delayed in times of supply bottlenecks and fully booked craftsmen.

Regulars' table guest Eberhard Hahn pleaded for more intensive use of hydrogen, which could make a significant contribution to climate protection due to its versatility.

At the end of the two-hour meeting, Bär reported that he only approved the 100 billion euro subsidy for the Bundeswehr in the Bundestag with great reservations.

The Holzkirchener thinks it makes even more sense to expand a cyber security system.
