Sensitive report on German arms deliveries: The traffic light is probably sending fewer rockets than planned.

Because there was no ammunition and the USA had to help out.

Brussels - The NATO defense chiefs meet in Brussels.

On the agenda: the Ukraine war and related arms deliveries.

The order list and the wishes of the Ukraine are long, the deliveries in reality manageable, which is also due to Germany.

Now there appears to be the next limitation.

Ukraine News: Not enough ammunition - Germany only supplies three rocket launchers

Apparently, Germany will only deliver three Mars II rocket launchers to Ukraine instead of the four previously discussed.

This is reported by the Business Insider

portal

.

Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD) wants to announce the plan at the defense ministers' meeting.

According to the report, the fact that only three rocket launchers are being delivered is due to a lack of ammunition.

The Bundeswehr cannot fire a large part of its own ammunition because a software update announced for the end of 2022 is missing.

The delivery of the three rocket launchers only works because the USA would help out with additional ammunition.

In addition, less than half of the Mars systems are operational in Germany.

Ukraine News: Rocket launcher only delivered in August/September

Interesting:

Business Insider

names August or September as the delivery date.

It also takes time because Ukrainian soldiers still have to be trained on the system.

Originally it was said that the rocket launchers should be made available much earlier.

There was talk of the end of June or July.

Three weeks ago, Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced additional arms deliveries - and thus satisfied Ukraine, at least for a short time.

"We are happy that things have finally started to move and that the ice has been broken," said Ambassador Andriy Melnyk.

Nothing has arrived since then.

It remains exciting how Ukraine now evaluates the de facto deliveries.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyj had already criticized the federal government for its hesitation earlier in the week.

Scholz is expected in Kyiv on Thursday (June 16).

Germany's Ukraine policy is also being criticized internationally, for example in Poland.

According to polls, the chancellor is not without controversy in Germany either, although this has less to do with Ukraine politics.

Ukraine News: Weapons delivery as the next Lambrecht debacle?

Defense Minister Lambrecht also sees herself confronted with criticism after the presumed next delivery error.

According to polls, the SPD politician is clearly the least popular minister in the Scholz cabinet.

Lambrecht first came under fire in January when her Ministry of Defense promised to deliver 5,000 helmets to Ukraine.

Ukraine had actually demanded weapons in the escalating Ukraine conflict.

Then, after the war began, these demands grew louder.

On February 28, one day after Scholz's government statement, in which he announced a 100 billion Bundeswehr package and his yes to arms deliveries, Germany's largest armaments company, Rheinmetall, is said to have sent Lambrecht's ministry a list of weapons and ammunition.

The letter was ignored for weeks.

The CDU then said publicly that Lambrecht was doing a "disastrous" job and "disgraced" Germany "all over the world".

In the months that followed, there were more unfortunate appearances by the native of Mannheim, who was Minister of Justice under Angela Merkel.

In addition to the lack of arms deliveries despite the promise (Melnyk: "It's not true what the minister says", "Fairy tale"), Lambrecht also got into trouble with private misconduct.

Although the defense minister is by no means solely responsible for the German course in arms deliveries and the sometimes dilapidated condition of the weapons: she is not doing well in the current situation either.

She will therefore have a few things to explain when she meets her counterparts.
