About four years ago, dozens of factory workers barricaded themselves in the building's lawn and refused to return to work, in response to pre-dismissal invitation letters received by 30 of the 250 workers.

The company's management then stated that these were necessary steps for the continued existence of the plant.

"This year, Emilia Cosmetics has presented negative results. The company presented the Histadrut with all the documents indicating the company's difficult situation, including financial statements, actions taken by management, expected savings from streamlining the company and other data," the management said.

After the protest and following the signing of a new collective agreement in cooperation with the workers' committee and the management, it was decided that the plant would not be closed.
