The Russian Ministry of Agriculture announced the expansion of the area planted for the 2022 crop from 79.9 million to 81.2 million hectares.

Russia Today website quoted the ministry as saying in a statement that the area planted for this year’s crop has been expanded by about 300,000 hectares compared to last year, adding that “there is an increase in the total harvest of oilseeds, sugar beets, greenhouse vegetables, fruits and berries, and there will be another increase in production from By increasing the areas planted with crops such as buckwheat, soybeans and potatoes.

The statement indicated that local farmers stored more than 126.6 million tons of grain in silos, including 79 million tons of wheat.

The Ministry of Agriculture is currently working on updating the supply plan for 2022, as agricultural producers have purchased since the beginning of the year more than 4.3 million tons of mineral fertilizers, an increase of 537,000 tons over last year.
