The directors Firas Muhammad and Rami Nidal, the supervisors of the Cinema House project, chose the Iranian feature film entitled Qahraman “Hero” as the third stop in the project’s screenings at Al-Kindi Hall in Damascus.

The film, produced in 2021 and which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, was written and directed by Iranian director Asghar Farhadi. It deals with the idea of ​​creating a popular hero and the ethical dealing with several human issues by official departments, charities, media and social media by presenting a simple story that happens with a hero The prisoner film, Rahim Soltani, whose role is played by the actor Amir Jadeedi, finds himself involved in events in which he had no hand, and demands justifications for them after he has become a subject of doubt and denial of what he socially loves quickly, as he suddenly became a hero and famous in his social environment.

Director Farhadi chose the realistic approach closest to the documentary in presenting his story and maintained a balanced distance from all the film's heroes during the course of the film by not diving into their inner worlds, leaving the viewer the freedom to speculate on the truth of each character and the consistency of their actions with their essence and ideas until the hero of the film reached the end that came with a decision From him to be a real hero this time by protecting and preserving the privacy and dignity of his young son.

Regarding the project of the General Film Organization, director Muhammad said in a statement to SANA that the Cinema House project stopped after its launch two years ago due to the precautionary measures against the Corona virus, and we recently prepared it to have two cinema shows during each month at Al-Kindi Cinema in Damascus for films worth watching and discussion by the Syrian public, indicating that The third stop was with the movie "Hero", as it was one of the films that were well-received internationally during the past year.

In turn, director Nidal explained that the return of the cinema house was with a Sudanese movie that has its own peculiarity as it is one of the few cinematic productions of Sudan, which is “You Will Die at Twenty” by Amjad Abu El-Ela, followed by the movie “Belfast” by British director of Irish origin Kenneth Branagh.


And he indicated that the project constitutes a good opportunity for cinema lovers in Damascus to see the latest productions of international cinema, which are not usually presented in commercial cinemas and on professional terms, noting that the project receives a good interaction from the audience.

For his part, the critic and media figure, Nidal Qousha, editor-in-chief of the electronic magazine Horizons Cinema, said: The Cinema House is a film club project established by the General Film Organization with the aim of bringing together fans of the seventh art from different ages and cultural and social segments. Syrian cultural scene.

The screening of the film was followed by a dialogue moderated by the two supervisors of the cinema house with a number of attendees about the various components of the film from the script, directing and performance of the actors, which provided an opportunity to exchange views on the film and capture all its technical details through analysis and anatomy.

Director Asghar Farhadi has previously won two Academy Awards in the foreign film category for his films “A Separation” in 2012 and “Salesman” in 2018.
