Culture and art, but also good food, sustainability and environmental protection: all of this makes Tollwood what it is.

Now the festival starts again - and some special projects are planned.

There are only a few meters between Morocco and the Bavarian State Chancellery.

First a trip to Marrakech and then a visit to Prime Minister Markus Söder's office?

No problem at the Summer Tollwood, which takes place from Thursday, June 16th to Sunday, July 17th at Olympiapark Süd.

Around 880,000 visitors may come.

"People are so happy that they can party again," says Tollwood spokeswoman Stefanie Kneer.

There are around 140 market stalls, 40 gastro stalls and a few tents.

700 to 800 helpers have set everything up in the last few weeks - now we can start.

The Prime Minister's desk is also there.

In the background are books, the Bavarian flag, a lion - and a pinwheel.

The coat of arms of the Free State should not be missing - and a sign hangs directly below it: "Windstaat Bayern" can be read on it.

How does that fit together when Markus Söder once said: "Bavaria is not a wind country"?

Energy transition is in focus

Well, it's not his real office, it's a replica.

"We brought the State Chancellery here because this is the control center where the decisions are made," says Daniela Schmid, who is responsible for the environmental projects and the ecological footprint at Tollwood.

Because that's what the Tollwood places a lot of value on.

"Clear to the turn" is the motto of the summer Tollwood.

"The focus is on the energy transition in Bavaria," says Schmid.

Particular attention is paid to wind energy.

There are headphones in the prime minister's office: cabaret artist Wolfgang Krebs recorded a phone call in which Söder discussed the controversial 10H distance rule for wind turbines with Minister for Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger.

A wind turbine is clearly visible rotating above the heads of the visitors, who can also learn about innovative concepts for generating energy.

A corner shop is also intended to stimulate thought.

"The true cost of the food is presented," says Schmid.

Nitrate excess, CO2 emissions, species loss, antibiotic resistance - everything is included.

"A kilo of minced meat should cost 18 euros," says Schmid.

The goal: to propose measures – against the cheap-everything trend.

Organic specialties from all over the world

At Tollwood itself there are only organic specialties.

And they come from all over the world.

The Marrakech tent, for example, serves North African cuisine and also offers art from the area.

"All things are original from Morocco," promises Stefanie Kneer.

Arabic music also invites you to dance.

On the other hand, there is Caribbean flair in the Half Moon Bar. Reggae, salsa and swing await visitors there.

It's quiet from 10 p.m. - because that's when the Silent Disco takes place, where everyone wears headphones.

If you are more drawn to Spain, then the Viva la Vida bar is the place for you.

In the evenings, a campfire and Spanish music with flamenco and co. create a holiday atmosphere.

"It will be very comfortable," says Stefanie Kneer.

The bar is at the Summer Tollwood for the first time.

Many music offers and concerts

The Andechser tent, where live music can be heard, is already celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Johnny Depp and guitarist Jeff Beck, among others, will perform in the music arena: only a few tickets are still available for this concert.

The ice beer at the Hacker-Pschorr-Brettl is also very popular, especially when it's so hot.

It was brewed especially for Tollwood, half a glass costs five euros.

The Tollwood program is available at www.tollwood.de.

The festival is open from 2pm to 1am Monday to Friday and from 11am to 1am on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

The market is only open until 11:30 p.m.
