Lloyd Austin, US Secretary of Defense:
“I think we need to put things in perspective.
You can... you know, on the battlefield you can never have enough and it can't go fast enough.
You have to keep that in mind.
But we still work to do everything humanly possible.
We will continue to move heaven and earth to give them the opportunities they need.«
At the meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels on Wednesday, the United States promised new arms sales worth a billion dollars.
The package should include rockets, 18 more howitzers and artillery shells.
Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces:
“The Russians are just doing area bombardment without necessarily having a military effect, let's put it that way.
The Ukrainians, on the other hand, are using more sophisticated artillery techniques, putting the Russians under quite a bit of pressure.
The Russians probably lost about 20 to 30 percent of their armored units.
That's important, that's huge.
The Ukrainians are fighting very effectively, both in terms of artillery tactics and maneuvers.«

Viktor, resident:
»Everyone notices.
A bomb fell on a house on my street recently.
There was a column of smoke, everything collapsed.
Luckily everyone was in the garden, there were no dead.
Splinters of glass caught an old woman.
But the whole street seems to have survived.”
It will be a while before we can start thinking about reconstruction here.
The battle for Donbass will continue for weeks or months.
