U.S. officials as well as those who have previously served in official positions told the Wall Street Journal tonight (Thursday) that a significant portion of the Israeli attacks allegedly reported in Syria are coordinated with the U.S. in advance and in fact the U.S. is going over the plans of the attacks in advance.
According to the report, the sources told the newspaper that for several years now, Israel has been submitting the attack plans to senior officials in the US Central Command for its prior approval, and the procedure has been done in secret.
The attacks were intended to disrupt the Iranian-Syrian establishment and also to pinpoint the attack so as not to interfere with the American forces operating there.
Grammys told the newspaper that the main American concern was that the Israeli attacks would not harm the activities of American forces in the Tanf area, near the Syrian-Jordanian border, Nablus in this area allegedly has a common Israeli attack route.
According to American sources, the vast majority of the targets in the Jordanian border area were submitted for prior approval, but they emphasized that the United States is not helping Israel choose targets.
It was also reported that in at least two cases, the US asked Israel to suspend the attacks, including in the planning stages of the raid on the hideout of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in 2019 (then ISIS chief). Therefore not submitted for approval, including the latest attack attributed to Israel at Damascus International Airport.
