The building at Mönchebergstraße* 42, the Villa Rühl, is managed by the University of Kassel.

During the operation, a mid-double-digit number of police officers were on site.

Kassel: Villa Rühl was also occupied in the last documenta summer of 2017

The Villa Rühl was already occupied during the last Documenta, five years ago.

One requirement was therefore to put the building to a “more sensible” use.

A new social center was already one of the demands in 2017.

In 2017, the building was occupied for around half a month.

At that time, the occupation ended with an evacuation by the police.

Whether the cast will remain will be seen in the next few hours.

Editorial note: A first version of this text stated that Villa Rühl was on Mombachstrasse.

That was a mix up.

In fact, it is on Mönchebergstraße.

We have corrected the error and apologize for it.
