After almost six years of cycling around the world, Michael Öfele, a former teacher at the Weilheim high school, is now planning his return home to Germany.
Weilheim
- At the end of July there should be a "Coming Home" celebration in his hometown of Nördlingen, as he announced in his most recent travel report.
This also shows that the 46-year-old, after he had flown from New Zealand to Greece, is now on his way to his German homeland with his “Bock”, as he calls his bike.
He sent the latest information from Albania.
It was a "tearless farewell" from New Zealand
When the plane took off in New Zealand, he felt "more relief than sadness," the globetrotter writes in retrospect.
It was a "farewell without tears".
This was also due to the fact that Michael Öfele had to organize a plane ticket "in a great hurry" because his new visa application had been rejected.
In addition, shortly before leaving, his mobile phone was stolen, which also contained all the photos from his two-month final stage in New Zealand.
In total, the globetrotter cycled around 13,000 kilometers in the country.
How things will continue professionally at Öfele is not yet known
Öfele (homepage: www.mike-on-bike.de) did not provide any information in his travelogue about how his career would continue after his return to Germany.
He would like to return to the Weilheim High School, as he explained in an interview with the local newspaper earlier this year.
