About a week after the attack on the Issawiya police, the prosecutor's office filed an indictment today (Friday) against Saleh Abu Hummus, 22, and Yusef Aliyan, 25, residents of the neighborhood for offenses of sabotage and theft of weapons.

At the same time, the Police Investigations Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident that led to the firing of 17 bullets into the air.

A new record of the incident shows the vehicle of the policemen, who claimed to have been forced to flee the scene, leaving the neighborhood on a normal trip, thinking that the incident ended without knowing that they were being monitored by some of the attackers.

According to the indictment, Abu Hummus heard the police firing outside his home and drove with his father following the vehicle.

At the same time, a group of young people, including Aliyan, also followed the vehicle.

When the three reached French Hill two got out of the vehicle towards their apartment and another continued the journey.

The vehicle of one of the defendants drove in the lane in front of him and collided with it and at the same time the group of young people blocked his way using their vehicle.

Then the attackers began throwing stones and rocks and spraying the driver with pepper spray.

At one point one of the attackers snatched the weapon from the complainant and fled the scene.

The rest of the attackers continued to hit the policeman, Saleh tightly closed the door of the vehicle on his leg, pulled him out of the vehicle and dragged him aside and hit him.

The complainant's friend then arrived at the scene, fired two warning shots into the air and the attackers fled the scene.

As a result of their actions, the complainant suffered injuries to his body, and much damage to his car.

At the same time, one of those involved in the incident was questioned yesterday in the police investigation department on suspicion of using a firearm in a residential area without justification.

It was further alleged that the policemen were drunk when they entered the Arab neighborhood and fired into the air.

According to the police version, last week two policemen who were not on duty and a citizen arrived in their vehicle at a gas station at the entrance to the neighborhood to buy cigarettes.

Upon leaving, they accidentally entered the neighborhood and arrived at the house where there was a mourning tent that evening for the death of a family member.

According to them, upon arriving at the scene, the policemen and the civilian were attacked, so one of them fired into the air with a firearm in the air and fled with his friends from the scene while boarding a traffic jam.

Police also claim that the three fled to the nearby French Hill neighborhood, stopped on Bar Kochba Street, and when two got out of the vehicle, the family members from Issawiya arrived and attacked them again, and took one of their weapons.

Meanwhile, the policeman's friends are called to his aid and one of them fires another shot into the air and flees the attackers.

According to the suspects' defense attorneys, the officers were drunk and unlawfully fired at the neighborhood, while the suspects sought to defend themselves without knowing they were officers.

"The claim that these were the people who entered by mistake is a blatant lie, they are two policemen serving in the sector," said Advocate Fares Mustafa. .

The lawyer further claimed that "the DIP investigation is being conducted lazily because one of the police officers, who had a difficult incident, found it appropriate to fly abroad on the same day so that he would not be questioned with a warning."

He said the forensic department did not arrive at the scene, the bullet casings were not collected and security cameras were not checked.

On the other hand, in the vicinity of one of the officers who were attacked, they said that he was in post-trauma and had difficulty functioning.

The policemen who arrived in Issawiya were under the influence of alcohol, fired 17 bullets in front of a mourning arbor even though they were not in danger. Nearby, they serve in the area and know the sector. "
