A 3-month-old baby died Thursday after being forgotten in his parents' car "for several hours," according to police in Upper Saint Clair, a town outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The agents went to the couple's house at 5 in the afternoon and found the unconscious child, according to the Allegheny County Police Department, which includes the city of Pittsburg.

The maximum temperature in that area reached 92 degrees on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
The resuscitation maneuvers carried out by the agents were unsuccessful and the child was declared dead at the scene, according to the authorities.
"Police determined that the infant was left inside his parents' car for several hours and requested the intervention of homicide detectives," according to the statement.

He is the fifth child to die this year inside a vehicle due to high temperatures, according to the site KidsAndCars.org.
A 1-year-old boy died May 19 after being rescued in a car outside a daycare center in Memphis, Tennessee, police said.
That day the temperature reached 91 degrees Fahrenheit.
The daycare, Education is the Key Children's Center, closed days later after the company that ran it relinquished its license, the Tennessee Department of Human Services reported to The Commercial Appeal.

Weeks earlier, on May 3, an 8-month-old girl died after being left in a car for hours.
Her father was arrested in Snellville, Georgia and charged with second-degree murder.
According to the weather service, temperatures reached 86 degrees that day in Atlanta, about 35 miles northeast of Snellville.
The interior temperature of a vehicle can reach 125 degrees Fahrenheit in minutes, even if the windows are left slightly rolled down.
