Dagmar Gaede wanted to use her legacy to secure medical care in the district and donated one million euros to the Agatharied hospital.

Agatharied – Bad Wiesseer privatière Dagmar Gaede, who died of an illness in October 2019, inherited one million euros to the circle of friends of the Agatharied hospital.

As the clinic now reports in a press release, long before her death and the diagnosis of her illness, Gaede had decided to donate her fortune to the people in the district.

Her choice fell on the Agatharied hospital.

Now her estate will help to secure the future of medical care in the district for all citizens.

Hospital board member Benjamin Barthold said he was "endlessly grateful" for donations like the Gaedes and was "more than aware" of his resulting responsibility.

As reported, the clinic had posted a loss of 12.5 million euros in 2021.

In addition to the effects of the corona pandemic, this was also due to the same structural problems that have caused the hospital to be in the red since 2017.

The clinic management is currently working on a strategic realignment, which should largely reduce the losses by 2024.

The twelve-person working group has now defined the first starting points, the hospital reports.

In addition to classic optimization, the medical strategy should also be reconsidered and all processes checked.

According to Barthold, the hospital is dependent on financial support in order to be able to make the investments in medical progress that are important for a future-proof clinic.

District Administrator Löwis and Ilse Aigner honor the donor

Until the hospital makes a profit, the district, which runs the facility as a municipal company, will probably have to cope with some losses.

District administrator Olaf von Löwis (CSU) appreciated donations like that from Gaede as important support in maintaining and further expanding the "high quality" and the "excellent reputation" of the hospital.

Stavros Konstantindis, Chairman of the Circle of Friends and member of the Board of Directors of Agatharied Hospital, says it is invaluable that many financially advantaged people in the affluent Tegernsee Valley are aware of their opportunities and are acting accordingly.

Thanks to citizens like Dagmar Gaede, the hospital has "a medical standard that is well above that of a district hospital" and thus benefits everyone in the district.

State President Ilse Aigner (CSU) emphasizes the importance of medical care for equal living conditions in town and country: The district hospital is an important building block for this, because it combines “proximity to home and quick accessibility with excellent treatment quality.” Grants like that from Gaede would help to maintain these advantages despite increasing economic pressure and thus to guarantee comprehensive medical care for the people in the district in the future.

Aigner: "I thank Ms. Gaede posthumously for her generous donation."
