Expected visit to the Middle East:
US President Joe Biden announced today (Friday) that he will not meet in units with Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman next month, and that the two will only be seen as part of a broader "international meeting".
"I do not intend to meet with MBS. I am going to an international meeting, and he is going to be a part of it," Biden said when asked how he would deal with the issue of the murder of journalist Jamal Hashkouji during his visit to Saudi Arabia.
It should be noted that a briefing by a senior official in the Biden administration earlier this week stated that the president would meet the regent in a broader meeting with the Saudi leadership.
However, this is the first time that Biden himself has addressed this.
Israel Today reported this week that the assessment in Israel is that during a visit to Biden he will announce the establishment of a forum or security arrangement that will include Israel, Saudi Arabia, the countries of the Abrahamic Accords, Egypt and Jordan.
This is a move primarily designed to address the growing Iranian threat throughout the region.
As reported in "Israel Today", Biden will arrive in Israel on July 13.
