Bordeaux celebrates wine, a spring getaway to plan

2022-06-17T06:40:15.199Z

For 20 years Bordeaux Fête le Vin has taken over the banks of the Garonne to offer an open-air wine route. We take advantage of the emblematic wine tourism event to rediscover the city… but not only!

From June 23 to 26, the unmissable event for lovers of wine and the Bordeaux region reinvests the quays and reinvents itself as part of Bordeaux Wine Week.

Bordeaux Fête le Vin thus takes up the main elements that have made its success, while associating great novelties and a great added environmental value.

After the cancellation of its 2020 edition due to the health crisis and a revisited 2021 format, this edition will begin in preview from June 16 in restaurants and wine shops in the Metropolis, as well as in music in the halls of show where winegrowers and merchants will come to meet visitors.

Without forgetting the long-awaited sailboats, moored on the quays of the Garonne as at the beginning of each summer.

New wine tourism routes

Initially scheduled for mid-May, the launch of new wine routes will finally take place in June.

There will be two routes, one on foot, the other by bike, to be completed independently.

From the Place des Quinconces to the Cité du Vin, the pedestrian route will invite visitors to open their eyes to works of art, statues, buildings, architectural details or even museums related to wine, through 24 points of interest.

3 kilometers long, this route can be followed using a collector's card sold at the tourist office and immersive audio capsules accessible by QR codes.

In parallel, three cycling routes of 12, 22 and 30 kilometers including visits to properties have also been imagined in the north of the metropolis, from Blanquefort.

An urban cellar

It is in a former warehouse dedicated to the storage of barrels from the Bordeaux trade (which became the Niel military barracks in 1877), that La Micro Winerie recently settled under the impetus of the ecosystem model located on the right bank: Darwin .

Agronomist and oenologist, Maxime Rozé has traveled the vineyards of the world to discover the different viticultural terroirs and ways of making wine.

He is now taking up the challenge of creating a winemaking cellar inside Bordeaux Bastide and offering three immersive workshops, from harvesting to blending and tasting, including crushing, pressing, maturing and bottling.

Since September 2021, the just thirty-year-old has released a sulfite-free red cuvée called Primitif as well as two white wines (the

a 100% Chenin de Loire, the other named Zéphyr, 70% Sauvignon and 30% Sémillon) and an orange wine (100% Sauvignon), all from grapes from organic or biodynamic agriculture and harvested by hand .

Its objective: to demystify the world of wine and its production.
