Being honored with an award is always nice.
The Constantinople Prize which was awarded to Elie Barnavi and myself is, moreover, rich in a kind of added value which honors us.
That of its name, that of the capital of the Empire of a culture and a history in which the Mediterranean Arab that I am was bathed, and that of the invention of a form of neighborhood, says the "system of millets” which, for centuries, will govern a harmonious sharing of daily life and the community diversity of the Ottoman Empire.
But that's not all.
The awarding of this prize touches me even more insofar as the two laureates are not rewarded for a work accomplished, an
achievement,
as those who are keen on success would say.
Barnavi and I received this award not for a successful business but for a choice...
