No ESC in Ukraine 2023: The next Eurovision Song Contest will not take place in Ukraine, this year's winner, because of the Russian war of aggression.
Ukraine - This was announced by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) on Friday in Geneva (here the official press release).
Instead, they want to hold talks with the BBC as to whether the ESC 2023 can be held in Great Britain.
The Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) also confirmed the decision of the EBU.
A feasibility study has been drawn up with the Ukrainian member and external specialists, according to the EBU statement.
The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the most complex TV productions of all, which is why the twelve-month preparation period is necessary.
The Reference Group responsible for the ESC in the Broadcasting Union stated "with regret" that the requirements could not be met.
With England's Sam Ryder finishing second, talks are now underway with England.
This is what the rules of the ESC envisage.
More information will follow.
