Extraordinary fundraiser: Nikolauskapelle is looking for sponsors

The interest group has come up with an unusual campaign for the renovation of the St. Nicholas Chapel.

We are looking for shingle sponsors.

Geretsried – if that isn't a reason to celebrate: on September 18, 1722, the St. Nicholas Chapel was consecrated.

At 300 years old, it is the oldest building in the young city.

For the 300th anniversary of the consecration, the interest group for the preservation of the St. Nicholas Chapel came up with something special.

Supporters can take on one of 1077 shingle sponsorships.

Geretsried: shingle sponsors wanted for the renovation of the Nikolauskapelle

In the "original" church of all churches in Geretsried, according to the festival committee in a statement, renovation work with a volume of more than 460,000 euros is pending.

The wooden shingle roof has reached the end of its service life, and rotting damage to the roof structure and the effects of the weather on the gilded roof crown must be repaired.

Depending on the financial possibilities, the church room would also have to be renovated.

"Everyone can contribute to ensuring that this unique cultural asset is preserved for future generations," says Roland Rundet from the festival committee.

The interest group collects donations.

1077 shingles in 53 rows: A sponsorship costs between 30 and 300 euros.

The roof consists of 1077 shingles.

The interest group asks sponsors to sponsor them.

In the lowest of the 53 rows on the roof, this costs 30 euros.

If you want to get to the top, you can get there with 300 euros.

The sponsors are listed on the Stadtkirche website (www.stadtkirche-geretsried.de/nk).

But anonymous donations are also possible.

The donation account of the Nikolauskapelle interest group has the IBAN DE 05 70 05 43 06 00 00 07 30 49. Transfer slips are also available in the parishes of Maria Hilf and Holy Family.

"Anyone can take part and contribute to the renovation costs by sponsoring a shingle," says Rundet.

Florian Sachers, chairman of the interest group, and church minister Josef Urso add: "Together we can do it, God rewards us."

The dedication anniversary will be celebrated on September 18th

An extensive program of celebrations is planned to celebrate the jubilee.

On Saturday, September 17, the community will start the festive day with various offerings in front of the St. Nicholas Chapel (7.30 p.m.) and a candle prayer (9 p.m.).

On Sunday at 10 a.m., if the weather is nice, there will be a festive service outdoors with many guests.
