Today (17th) a 21-year-old male apprentice with tattoos in an upstairs tattoo shop in Mong Kok suddenly fell into a coma during anesthesia preparations for tattoos. Fortunately, he recovered after being sent to the hospital.

The responsible tattoo artist Wu Chaocheng and his wife told the incident that they were about to tattoo the apprentice's back at that time. After the apprentice applied anesthesia ointment, he suddenly fainted and cramped while waiting. After being sent to the hospital, they learned that the apprentice had a history of cramps.

Peng Jimao, a specialist in emergency department, pointed out that anesthetics sprayed on the skin will only anesthetize the nerve lines on the surface of the skin for local anesthesia and pain relief, and generally will not cause unconsciousness. Dizziness or coma caused by the vagus nerve, as long as you lie down for a few minutes, it will gradually recover.

The man was sent to the hospital due to discomfort during anesthesia with tattoos.

Recently, because Junzai decided to immigrate overseas, Wu planned to get a tattoo on the back of his beloved disciple as a farewell gift.

During today's "line hooking", Chun Tsai was in pain, so Mrs. Wu and his wife applied anesthesia ointment to Chun Tsai, and it took about 1 hour for the medicine to take effect.

While waiting while playing on the phone, Junzai suddenly fainted and suffered from cramps. They immediately called the police and sent Junzai to the hospital.

Wu's wife pointed out that, after being checked by the hospital, Fang knew that Junzai had a history of cramps. He believed that Junzai's fainting had nothing to do with anesthesia ointment, which is also commonly used for tattoos and beauty purposes, and was purchased from a pharmacy with a registered pharmacist.

Doctor: Skin anaesthetic is relatively safe and won't cause unconsciousness

Peng Jimao, a specialist in emergency department, pointed out that anesthetics sprayed on the skin will only anesthetize the nerve lines on the surface of the skin for local anesthesia and pain relief, and generally will not cause unconsciousness, so it is relatively safe to use.

As for whether it will be sensitive to anesthetics, Peng Jimao pointed out that it varies from person to person, but the general symptoms will gradually increase from mild to severe, such as red rash, redness and swelling of the face or lips first, followed by swelling of the upper airway and difficulty in breathing. It will immediately faint due to sensitivity, and will not recover naturally in a short time unless the allergen is removed or steroid injections are injected.

Peng Jimao pointed out that when a person is in a state of tension, such as getting an injection to draw blood, being frightened, or rushing to work and school, the vagus nerve will be stimulated and sudden dizziness or coma, the so-called "vagal fainting", will appear slow heartbeat and low blood pressure. Lie down for a few minutes and it will gradually recover.
