The battle against the attempt to ban Jewish slaughter in Brussels ended successfully, after the local parliament rejected the bill submitted on the subject today (Friday).
The decision on the issue comes about two weeks after the publication in "Israel Today" regarding the struggle of Belgian Jews, who feared the effects of the move.
The European Rabbinical Conference welcomed the decision, which was adopted by a majority of 42 to 38. The President of the European Rabbinical Conference and the Chief Rabbi of Moscow, Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt, said:
The Chief Rabbi of Belgium and the representative of the conference in the EU institutions, Rabbi Avraham Gigi, added: "Our strength is in our unity; in fact the Jewish community can continue with kosher slaughter in Brussels."
