On Corpus Christi, the boy comes to the Eibsee with his mother.
When playing in the water, he suddenly loses the ground under his feet.
Attentive bathers immediately alert the lifeguard.
Together they saved the child from drowning.
Grainau – He was just playing in the water.
The ten-year-old boy and his mother didn't even move far from the shore when they were having fun in the Eibsee on Corpus Christi.
But then the boy lost his footing and couldn't keep his head above water.
His luck: he was right in front of the water rescue station of the Grainau water rescue service.
Attentive bathers immediately informed the emergency services.
They all immediately jumped into the water and saved the child from drowning.
On land, the volunteers cared for and stabilized the ten-year-old.
He was taken to the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Clinic for further treatment.
As it turned out afterwards, both the little one and his mother were non-swimmers.
Sandro Leitner, chairman of the local water rescue group, speaks of a life-threatening situation.
"Bathing in lakes poses considerable dangers, even for experienced swimmers, due to the rapidly and steeply sloping ground, currents or the cold temperatures." It can be particularly dangerous for non-swimmers.
Leitner therefore expressly recommends that they only go to pools designated for them, such as outdoor pools, and learn to swim there.
"I advise every non-swimmer against going into public bathing waters that are unfamiliar to them."
