The Swimming pool nuclear stop collective calls for a rally this Saturday, June 18 at 10 a.m. in front of the town hall of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (Manche).
The collective was born on November 22, 2021 following the first preliminary consultation meeting on the EDF project to build an underwater storage facility for spent fuel on the Orano-La Hague site.
Its 250 members and 500 subscribers on social networks do not let go.
“EDF was mistaken in thinking to get the pill out without too much difficulty, with old methods.
Only, this time, the inhabitants of La Hague and Cotentin, and even some employees of Orano, reacted!
We blame him for his lack of transparency and democracy, ”says Thierry, on behalf of the collective.
“A transparent debate”
“And besides, EDF was called to order by the National Commission for Public Debate.
But it is relaunching the consultation, which restarts Monday for three short weeks!
It's much too short and we want to inform the population before it's too late.
Because nothing is decided: the construction of these swimming pools is not inevitable.
Enough is enough.
We, pro and anti-nuclear, we tell them to leave the Hague alone!

The collective is pleased to have succeeded for the first time in pushing back the date of the consultation and calls for “a debate in complete transparency”.
Saturday's rally will be protesting, festive and musical.
It will continue all day, and the collective will be delighted if 600 people respond to… their June 18 call.
