An investigation has been opened into the death of a disabled passenger who fell after not receiving assistance at Gatwick Airport in London, British media reported today (Friday).

The accident happened on Wednesday at 12:50 London time.

This is a husband and wife who were waiting for help to get off EasyJet's flight at the northern terminal.

The man, who apparently despaired after a member of the ground services team at the airport came to help his wife but left him on the plane, decided to make his way to the terminal alone, a Sun source told Sun - and when he reached the escalator he fell and was seriously injured, from which he later died.

Lack of workers.

EasyJet confirmed on Wednesday the death of the passenger in a statement, adding that members of the plane's crew provided him with medical care while waiting for paramedics.

"Some of our crew members provided medical assistance to a passenger at Gatwick Airport while waiting for paramedics to arrive, but unfortunately, the passenger died later. Our thoughts with family and friends during this difficult time."

James Tate, CEO of Wilson James, ground service provider for customers at airports, said the incident occurred while a crew member was assisting three passengers with traffic restrictions after landing, adding that the shortage of airport workers was not the cause of the incident

. Because "Wilson James employee was waiting when the plane arrived and started assisting three passengers with reduced mobility when the incident happened.

A shortage of workers was not the cause of the incident contrary to what was alleged.

It is normal for one crew member to assist three passengers, assisting each one individually due to the short distance.

About ten days ago, Gatwick Airport was forced to apologize to a woman with a disability who was abandoned on a plane for more than an hour and a half after a port employee did not arrive to help her get off.

Victoria Brigel from London, paralyzed from the neck down, returned to the UK after a holiday in Malta.

She was initially told she had to wait on the plane for 50 minutes, even though her wheelchair arrived at the port on time.

But Wilson James, the employee who is supposed to help at the airport for passengers with disabilities, did not come at all to help her get off the plane.
