Summer is hitting hard in Germany.

There is plenty of sun, heat and warmth this weekend in June.

Just not in one region of the country.

Munich/Lake Constance/Hamburg – In northern Italy between Veneto, Lake Garda and Lombardy it is so hot and dry that drinking water has to be rationed in some places.

But in Germany, too, the summer has already hit the ground running in mid-June.

At least in many places.

Specifically: At the weekend (June 18/19) it is supposed to get really hot in large parts of the Federal Republic - but with one notable exception.

Weather in Germany at the weekend: heat in the west, east and south

“Over the weekend, the majority of heat waves will spread across the west, east and south and will only just barely reach the north, as cool air masses from the north-west tend to accumulate there.

That's why it's extremely different this weekend," the

quotes qualified meteorologist Dominik Jung from the weather service

wetter.net

as saying : "The sea brings the wind towards the coast there, so it's colder than in the rest of the country.

The seawater is significantly cooler than the heated mainland.”

Means: In the north, especially in the north-west between the North Sea, Hamburg and Bremen, it is pleasantly mild, but by no means hot like midsummer, while the rest of Germany really starts to sweat.

According to

wetter.com

, it should still be up to 24 degrees warm in the metropolis of Hamburg with its around 1.9 million inhabitants on Saturday.

But on Sunday, the maximum values in the Hanseatic city and the surrounding area should no longer exceed 19 degrees.

The weather picture in the rest of the republic is completely different: in Cologne, for example, up to 36 degrees are measured on Saturday in bright sunshine, according to the forecast.

However, the weather is also expected to change in parts of North Rhine-Westphalia on Sunday.

According to

wetter.com

, it could only be 18 degrees in the city on the Rhine, which would mean a significant drop in temperature.

However, the south and east of Germany do not have to fear such a thing at the weekend.

Weather in Germany at the weekend: It's getting really hot at Lake Constance, in Stuttgart and in Saxony

In Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance in the border triangle with Switzerland and Austria, it should be up to 32 degrees warm on Saturday.

Ideal excursion weather for the "Swabian Sea".

On Sunday the temperatures at Lake Constance climbed up to 33 degrees with lots of sunshine.

In the Baden-Württemberg state capital of Stuttgart, 35 degrees were measured on Saturday and Sunday, and the risk of rain is also very low in the "Schwabenkessel".

Occasionally, however, thunderstorms must be expected due to the heat - from west to south to east.
