Penzing – The fire brigade cannot easily practice operations on the Autobahn because of the flowing traffic.
The Penziger Wehrmacht chose a clever approach.
Commanders Peter Brandenburg and Stefan Willig asked about mobility at the ADAC test center.
There, project manager Andreas Rigling was happy to make the long former runway of the former air base available.
According to the firefighters, this is “excellently suitable for approach exercises on a motorway”.
Commander Willig simulated a traffic accident involving a trailer loaded with dangerous goods.
"I put a training dummy under a pallet with sandbags," describes Willig.
After all the cars were in the right positions, the scene had to be secured first.
A group from the Penzing fire brigade then took care of rescuing people, securing against fire, securing the trailer and collecting the hazardous materials.
The rescuers tried using two different devices to lift the pallet and free the doll.
Both the use of the pneumatic lifting bag and the so-called "buffalo lifter" were then discussed in detail.

Not only the ADAC mobility test center in Penzing, but also the ADAC technical center in Landsberg has often been the scene of exercises and training courses for fire brigades.
Including the rescue of people from modern, high-strength carbon bodies by the Augsburg professional fire brigade.
As soon as regular operations are up and running in Penzing, the test center will also give other fire departments the opportunity to practice.
