It's time to dare something new: the historic association in Gröbenzell, known as the Gröben Keepers, has a new chairman.

The well-known historian Sven Deppisch wants to inspire younger people for local history - but not only.

The association should inspire more people for its work.

Gröbenzell - He is the man who is ushering in a new era for the Gröbenzell historians: Sven Deppisch, 40 years old, doctorate in history.

And that is of course also important: he has been at home in the Gröbenbach community for 22 years.

As the new chairman of the Gröben guardians, he has ambitious goals.

Deppisch wants the club to be more modern and more active on social media.

The Gröbenkeepers should be an association for everyone who is interested in culture, art, local history and traditional customs.

"I want to give new impetus," says Deppisch.

(

By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular

FFB newsletter.)

He also wants to expand the club's range of events.

There will be lectures, readings, discussions and workshops.

The view should go beyond the horizon of Gröbenzell.

It is also important to him to get new rooms for the club and museum.

Because the historic association should become "a new hotspot", "a cultural lighthouse".

A long-term project, as he emphasizes, but he is convinced: "You have to have ambitious goals, otherwise you won't achieve anything."

He has long since made a name for himself, even far beyond the district borders.

In his book "Täter auf der Schulbank" he shows the dark past of what was then the most important police academy in Germany: the one in Fürstenfeldbruck.

Hundreds of men were trained to be leaders during the Nazi era.

Anti-Semitism was on the curriculum.

The police officers would later take part in the most horrific crimes: massacres of Jews, sexual offenses against children and the extermination of entire villages.

After the war, they were often not adequately punished for their crimes and actually continued their careers, Deppisch found.

The 40-year-old is now a lecturer at the Brucker police school.

The historian is also a lecturer at various adult education centers and works in the field of public relations and marketing.

He felt flattered when he was asked if he wanted to follow in the footsteps of the long-standing chairman of Gröbenzell's historical association, the Gröben- keeper.

After all, Rudolf Ulrich has been the chief historian since it was founded 25 years ago.

CSU councilor Anton Kammerl approached Deppisch, although he was not a member of the association.

First skeptical

However, he was also skeptical, says Deppisch.

Because he has a full-time job and doesn't have the time for club work like his predecessor, who was already retired.

He finally accepted the post because the club's tasks were spread over several shoulders.

At the moment, Deppisch and his fellow board members are already under a lot of pressure.

Because they have decided to celebrate the 25th birthday of the association and the 22 years of the municipal local history and peat museum on Rathausstraße, which is run by the Gröben Keepers on a voluntary basis.

This is to take place on July 17 at Rathausplatz and in the hall of the Bürgerhaus.

Readings and lectures on local history and a children's program are planned.

The museum will reopen with an exhibition on Albert Meyer after a two-year break due to Corona.

The exhibition is dedicated to the former chairman of the interest group, Meyer, who published the first Gröbenzell chronicle in 1931, but who was also active as an artist.

The Gröbenkeepers will also take care of the physical well-being and musical entertainment on this Sunday.

"In this way, the citizens can get to know our work," explains Deppisch.

"We want to show that the historic association is something for all generations." Deppisch hopes for more members.

Although there are currently 165 citizens.

But, as in many other clubs, the younger generation is missing.

As an incentive, everyone who becomes a member of the association that day takes part in a competition.
