This couple would probably not have expected "Bares for Rares".

When the art historian appraised her oil painting, it was only valued at around 500 euros.

In the dealer room, however, the art connoisseurs in the thousands range then fought for it.

Leipzig - With "Bares for Rares" (all news on the topic page) there are always real rarities on the table.

True treasures are found in the attic, the old painting turns out to be a great valuable.

The same happened to the couple Juliane and Armin Ganser, who left the ZDF program with an unexpected blessing.

Art historian names significantly lower value than dealer in "Bares for Rares"

The two sellers introduce themselves to the junk show with an oil painting that shows a still life that they have now had enough of looking at themselves.

Art historian Bianca Berding assigns it to the painter Max Dürschke, about whom almost nothing is known, except that he was born in 1875, studied at the art academy in Breslau and worked at the royal porcelain manufactory in Berlin.

The couple would like around 800 euros for their picture.

The art historian has to disappoint with her assessment.

She says: "I would be at 500 to 600 euros".

Nevertheless, the two gentlemen would sell and therefore enter the dealer's room.

But then things suddenly turned out very differently there: When art dealer David Suppes saw the painting, he was completely blown away.

"I now have a racing heart and gasping, so I'm trying to shorten it a bit and offer you 2,000 euros," he announces.

The other dealers are completely surprised: "We're gasping for air now".

However, they still try to outdo each other.

In the end, however, the lover of soup put the lid on it and bought the trick from the couple for 3,000 euros.

Relieved, he comments: "Then we don't have to call the ambulance after all."
