The Wiagsog cutting in the Hopf festival tent in Miesbach ended with a heartbeat finale.
24 teams were at the start.
The winner had a lead of just under a second.
Miesbach
– The sawdust was dusting in clouds, the drops of sweat were running in streams: the Wiagsog cutting delivered spectacular pictures during the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the Miesbacher Weissbierbrauerei Hopf.
20 men's and four women's teams took part in the competition organized by the Fischbachauer Goaßlschnalzern, reports Chairman Andreas Auer.
The victory was ultimately decided in a heart-stopping final.
Just under a second separated the first placed Peter Förderreuther and Lukas Konheiser from Königsdorf from Vitus Utzschneider and Josef Ostler from Ohlstadt in second place.
Teams dueled in the KO system
Two fir trunks were ready on the stage in the marquee.
Both are debarked and milled down to a diameter of 40 centimeters to ensure fair competition, explains Auer.
The coin decided which team of two was allowed to start the saw on which trunk.
Where exactly, the participants could decide for themselves - in an area marked by the referees.
Two pairs always dueled in the KO system.
Whoever hit the stage first with a disc got one lap further.
Best time was 17 seconds
So it happened that the absolute best time of the evening with a good 17 seconds was not due to the winners from Königsdorf, but was achieved in one of the preliminary rounds by the later runners-up from Ohlstadt.
But the decisive time in the final was also worth seeing: the stopwatch showed exactly 18.60 seconds: the founding year of TSV 1860 Munich.
It is not known whether the winners are lion fans.
But for the fact that they offered an extremely strong performance on the saw.

It was also very exciting for the women.
Here it came to a Fischbachau community derby in the final.
In the end, Josefa Leitner and Barbara Eichler had the better combination of strength and skill on their side.
And that despite the fact that they competed against two twin sisters Anna and Magdalena Bucher.
organizers happy
In any case, all participants reaped wild cheers and loud cheers from the full marquee.
And the organizers of the Goaßlschnalzer could proudly pat themselves on the back.
Auer does not actually have much experience as organizers of a Wiagsog cutting beforehand.
"We used to do that with the traditional costumers." But someone at the Hopf brewery noticed that - and then immediately asked for a new edition in Miesbach.
With success, as the evening in the tent showed.
“Everything went well,” sums up Auer.
Like sliced bread - or better: sawn wood.
