An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale hit the port of Gark in Hormozgan Province, southern Iran.
"The epicenter of the tremor was at a depth of 20 kilometers from the surface of the earth, 11 kilometers from the port of Gark and 43 kilometers from the city of Jinnah in Hormozgan province in southern Iran," the Iranian news agency IRNA quoted the Seismological Center of the Geophysical Institute of Tehran University as saying in a statement.
The center indicated that there were no reports of casualties or material damage as a result of the tremor.
Yesterday, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake hit the cities of Kailan and Qazvin, northern Iran.
