A man attacks passengers with a knife at the San Francisco airport. There are three injured

"He attempted to cause injury to several passing travelers," a spokesman said. The incident occurred on Friday and the suspect was arrested. The motive for his attack is still unknown.


Three people were injured after a man entered San Francisco International Airport on Friday with a knife and attacked passengers.

The victims were in the area before the security zone around 6:00 pm when the man "pulled out a knife" and caused them injuries, which according to the authorities are not serious or life-threatening.

Authorities arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect, whose identity has not yet been released.

Airport spokesman Doug Yakel told the San Francisco Chronicle that the attacker "attempted to cause injury to several passing travelers."

It is not yet clear if the man was a passenger and what motivated him to do so.

The three injured were treated "for minor scrapes and released," airport service chief Russell Mackey told the publication.

According to The Associated Press news agency, a KTVU-TV reporter covering the arrival of a basketball team reported that agents seized a large knife.

According to authorities, the charges the man faces will not be made public while the investigation is ongoing.

The attack did not impact flight operations.
