In 2019, the Oberland exhibition was crowded early in the morning on the public holiday.

The organizer expects even more visitors this year than three years ago.

After the Oberland exhibition had to be canceled in 2021, it is scheduled to take place this fall.

There are some innovations for the Orla.

Weilheim

– The Oberland exhibition (orla for short), which is known far beyond the district borders, is to take place this autumn.

In 2021 the trade fair, which is held every two years in Weilheim, had to be canceled due to Corona.

At the moment, however, nothing stands in the way of the event, which is scheduled to take place from September 29th to October 3rd.

"Let's hope it stays that way," says Josef Albert Schmid from JW Schmid GmbH.

As an organizer, you are “a burned child” due to Corona.

Schmid and his team have come up with something to take the pandemic situation into account.

"In autumn, maybe not everyone wants to take the bus," says the organizer.

Therefore, for the first time, visitors will be able to park directly on the exhibition grounds.

Up to 300 parking spaces planned

There will be additional space for vehicles in an area at the Hochlandhalle – up to 300 parking spaces are planned at the trade fair.

Access to the site is via the main entrance in the east.

Until now, most visitors had reached the Orla with a shuttle bus service from the surrounding car parks.

Due to the additional area for the vehicles, the lightweight halls move further north of the fairground.

The Stadthalle falls flat this time as a venue - it remains closed.

Because of the pandemic, there will also be fewer exhibitors this year.

Schmid expects around 200 instead of the 300 or so that were at the fair in 2019.

Cooperation with district youth council leads to "fireworks at special shows"

One of the nine halls will again include the "Experience Home" hall, and there will also be Hall H, in which the rural women will exhibit.

"We want to present agriculture even more strongly here," says Schmid.

As in previous years, there will again be cooperation with the district youth council, which, according to the organizer, will lead to a "firework display of special shows".

They also want to offer companies and job seekers a platform via an online tool.

"We're also doing this for the first time," says Schmid.

"We want to bring supply and demand together." The Oberland exhibition is also a kind of marketing platform for the region.

Hubert Aiwanger requested as patron

Schmid expects a strong influx of visitors.

"After two years of the pandemic, people have a lot of catching up to do," he says.

People finally want to try things on site again, taste and smell new things.

"We want to satisfy this need to catch up," says the organizer.

Due to October 3rd, which falls on a Monday this year, the rush could be far greater than in previous years.

Because the Orla lasts one day longer this year than it was in 2019.

Around 35,000 visitors came to the fair three years ago.

And who will take on the patronage of the Oberland exhibition?

Schmid refers to the town of Weilheim.

This confirms that a corresponding request was made to Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger.

So far, however, there is still no answer.
