With the participation of a number of social care providers in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor and a number of the Russian community in Syria, the Syrian-Russian Cooperation Foundation held today, in cooperation with the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus, an awareness seminar entitled (Child labor is a constraint that limits their growth and learning).

The axes of the symposium focused on child labor from a human rights and development perspective, the causes of the phenomenon of child labor and its relationship to family conditions, school dropouts, the effects of the Corona pandemic on child labor, and the proposed solutions to combat this phenomenon.

The trainer at the Regional Center for Early Childhood, Sabaa Hassan, gave a lecture in which she showed that the labor law in Syria guarantees addressing the phenomenon of child labor and prevents the child from being exploited economically or in performing any work that is likely to be dangerous or harmful to his health or an obstacle to his education.

In her turn, Radana Salameh, an educational specialist and trainer in the field of early childhood, pointed out in her lecture that the economic conditions and the lack of sufficient financial returns contributed to the withdrawal of many children from schools, pointing out that proposals are submitted periodically to the concerned authorities to combat this phenomenon, including providing support to needy families and awareness campaigns. Reducing school dropout.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Syrian-Russian Cooperation Foundation, Fadi Al-Isani, explained to SANA that the foundation’s main objective is to carry out a set of programs that include a series of events that focus on the educational and educational aspect of community members, in addition to focusing on the health sector by conducting field visits to Syrian cities, knowing their health needs and providing treatment. And free medicines for patients in need.

For his part, the representative of the Russian side in the Foundation, Dr. Ali Al-Mouy, indicated that the directives of the Russian leadership are to support institutions concerned with the humanitarian side in Syria, where the Foundation works on 3 aspects: education, health and relief, noting that there will be an opening of the Foundation’s branches in the governorates of Lattakia and Tartous. To provide medical, educational and relief services, as the region will be divided into a group of sectors and provide assistance to needy families, which will contribute to improving the conditions of the region in all respects.
