The scene was so violent that one of the witnesses had to be hospitalized.
This Saturday, a man, attacked with an ax, is in intensive care, between life and death, at the Henri Mondor hospital in Créteil (Val-de-Marne).
The victim was found lying on the ground, covered in blood, the cranium depressed.
The tragedy took place shortly after midnight, rue Buzenval (XXth), south of the Père Lachaise cemetery.
It was two walkers who alerted the emergency services.
And put the aggressor to flight.
The latter had vanished, the ax covered in blood in his hand, in the direction of the rue de Bagnolet (XXth).
The attacker was intoxicated
Two crews from the anti-crime brigade (BAC) of the XXth police station immediately converged on the scene.
The firefighters of the Charonne barracks (11th), also called, provided first aid to the victim.
The police had the description of the attacker, given by the witnesses: 1m75, medium-length black hair, dark clothes, “in a state of intoxication”, and of the Indo-Pakistani type.
But above all, the officials had his photo!
In his flight, the man has indeed left personal items including a vital card in his name and a residence permit with photo.
One of the crews found the alleged perpetrator a little further on but without his axe.
The man was identified by one of the witnesses.
Aged 53, the attacker who lives in the neighborhood, was placed in police custody with a passage in a drunk tank.
The crime scene has been sealed off to gather any clues.
The investigation, entrusted to the judicial police, is continuing.
For the record, in 2018, a man was savagely attacked with an ax in a small restaurant on rue Cail (Xe) in the Indo-Pakistani district located behind the Gare de l'Est.
The police suspected a settling of scores within the Sri Lankan community.
