Andreas Schober from Wolfersdorf inspires people as a DJ and also as a teacher

Wolfersdorf

– He is a wanderer between the worlds: Andreas Schober from Wolfersdorf.

One world is that of the 37-year-old father and civil servant middle school teacher who keeps school children busy every day and inspires them with sports and English.

The other world is that of "Andi Lirious" and the DJ who is in demand throughout Bavaria and in the party hotspots of Europe, who puts several thousand party-goers in a good mood and encourages them to dance for hours.

At home at the parties of the world

Schober discovered his passion for DJing when he was just 16 years old.

At that time still with records and analogue.

That, he says, was a "good school" that still benefits him today.

Today - that's DJ "Andi Lirious", who plays again and again in all the big discotheques in Bavaria, who has already stood at the mixing desk in Moscow, St. Petersburg, London and on Mallorca and entertains several thousand party guests.

This is "Andi Lirious", who moves the masses together with rapper greats like Cro and Maxwell or singer and entertainer Lorenz Büffel, who is part of the world-class line-up at the party beach Zrce on the Croatian island of Pag and who is the really big ones played on stages.

When "Andi Lirious" talks about his performances, you can see his passion.

A certain basic nervousness remains

Even after 21 years as a DJ, he still feels "a certain basic nervousness," he says.

Sure, because the pressure from the location operators is already there.

"You have to deliver." If not, you get the receipt from the audience immediately.

Of course: After so many years and performances, Schober knows how to set up a one-hour or even four-hour gig, knows all the opportunities and challenges of such a build-up.

"You have to give people time to catch their breath," he says.

Always at full speed - that doesn't work, the guests go home early.

It is important to maintain the tension curve.

Tour guide on a good mood trip

The fact that he knows the number of beats per minute (bpm) for all the songs he takes with him on a USB stick (there are different variations with up to 500 to 600 songs on it) makes his “work” easier.

DJ Andi Lirious knows which tracks are how fast and which ones he can mix.

He does not set an order beforehand.

That happens spontaneously, is the result of what is called "crowd reading" in the scene, i.e.: look at what the audience reacts to and how, whether modern dance music, old hits or a slightly rockier style go down well.

Schober does not want to talk about a “feeling of power”.

He sees himself as a "tour guide" who takes people on a trip to put them in a good mood.

"Of course, if it works, that's a good feeling." And: "It's addictive."

“Andi Lirious” sees his strength as a DJ in his incredibly broad repertoire.

That's why, unlike many others from the younger generation of DJs, he can make style and genre changes and still surprise the masses.

The fact that he was driving analogue for a long time was very helpful, emphasizes Schober, and compares it with a driver who not only knows automatic cars, but can also use gears.

Because sometimes you just have to switch quickly, you have to be able to overcome small breakdowns such as short power failures without the people noticing anything.

Audiences want to be entertained

And you have to be fast enough to be able to "entertain" the audience.

Because those who are standing in front of the stage and partying can already see what the DJ is doing and how he behaves.

This routine and ability has paid off from time to time, Schober recalls.

For example, when the stick that Lorenz Büffel had with him at a performance didn't work.

"Andi Lirious" helped out, played his Lorenz Buffalo songs until the laptop with the songs was taken from the hotel, and together with the mood singer bridged the forced break in such a way that none of the guests should have noticed anything.

By the way: He always has three sticks with him.

The DJ still raves about Füssen

But even if DJ "Andi Lirious" has already stood at the podium all over Europe, one location always fascinates him: Füssen.

Schober enthuses that he hadn't experienced it anywhere else when people went along with the party there, it was "phenomenal".

Of course, that's exhausting, which is why he now takes support DJs with him for performances lasting several hours.

Another story from 21 years of DJ life is that of BEBO.

Bernd Bolner, that's his real name, talked to "Andi Lirious" for a long time a few years ago in order to be initiated by him as a trainee, so to speak, into the fine art of DJing.

At first, says Schober, he refused, was skeptical, but then allowed himself to be persuaded.

The result: BEBO is now one of the top 3 in the German scene.

He is a sought-after DJ in Europe's party hotspots: Andi Lirious.

He knows how to inspire the party people.

An end to the DJ era "is in sight"

But now another generation is conquering the stages, Schober knows for sure.

He, who no longer DJs to earn some money like he did when he was a student, but can now pick out the raisins with his good name, notices that being a DJ is exhausting.

And that's why he admits that he will "not do it forever": "An end is in sight." At least there will no longer be such regularity, says Schober, who is no longer like it was five or six years ago Another large discotheque recorded at the weekend.

He can't do anything with gangsta rap

Incidentally, he himself is a big Austro-Pop fan, but is musically open to many styles.

He's just too old for gangsta rap, he doesn't really get into heavy hard rock and metal either.

A nice side effect, says Schober, is that when pictures of him with Maxwell, for example, appear on Facebook and the like, he immediately takes a very different view of his students.

And there it is again, the other world – the world of the teacher at the middle school in Ismaning.

There is, of course, a connection between the world of Andreas Schober and "Andi Lirious": Both must have the ability to captivate and inspire people.

Good to know

This Saturday "Andi Lirious" is in action twice: First he puts on two 30-minute sets on air in Bayern3 between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., then he jets to "Fantasy Island" in Niederlauterbach (district of Pfaffenhofen). to offer the masses a special evening there.
