Evidence is mounting how damaging school closures have been to younger generations.

Critics were not heard.

This political bill has yet to be settled, says editor-in-chief Hans Moritz in his commentary on the weekend.

After the schools, the district's family counseling center has now spoken up.

She also comes to the conclusion that the months of school closures have caused devastating damage to children, young people and families, which can have consequences for the rest of their lives - Long Covid without breathing problems.

The virologist and epidemiologist Klaus Stöhr, who scientifically evaluates the pandemic policy, comes to the fatal conclusion in the weekly newspaper Die Zeit: “The available data on the extent to which school closures and compulsory masks in schools were effective are devastating.

(...) Contrary to better scientific knowledge, the stigmatization of children was retained.

With significant negative consequences for the children.” Yes, children were never the drivers of a pandemic.

Now nobody needs to go and say: You're always smarter afterwards.

The warnings were there from the start, Sweden, for example, went a different way: the schools were almost always open.

Those responsible must be clearly named: the power-forgotten Prime Minister Markus Söder and his submissive Minister of Education Michael Piazolo, i.e. CSU and Free Voters.

Families should remember this for the state elections in autumn 2023.

But the chain of failure is longer: neither headmasters nor teachers' associations rebelled (they looked primarily to themselves), nor did the local state and federal deputies.

One is now politically responsible for children and families - Ulrike Scharf.
